The Stewarts' Bio

The Stewarts is an exciting contemporary gospel group that blends powerful harmonies with heartfelt lyrics and straight forward deliverance. They started singing at a very young age and have been singing most of their lives.

The Stewarts come from a rich musical heritage which has produced musically, gifted talents for several generations. Grandfathers, grandmothers, uncles, aunts, and cousins share in this musical legacy.

The Stewarts have sung in Memphis, Tennessee at the COGIC Holy Convocation. They have also performed at the Bobby Jones Easter Gospel Explosion, the Texas Gospel Announcers Guild Celebration, and were featured on Inspirations Across America.

The father of this group is a gospel preacher and pastor. He has been a mentor for many younger preachers. The mother of this group is a musical legend to those who have had a chance to be blessed by her singing. Her vocals were so anointed that congregations would sing her praises for her singing His praises.

The group consists of primarily six members. They are Wayne Stewart, Joyce Stewart-White, Karen Stewart-McGill, Kenneth Stewart, Krystal McGill-Williams, and Ariel McGill.

Wayne is the heart of the group. He is an accomplished keyboardist and organist as well as lyricist, composer, and arranger. His lyrics are warm and heartfelt, as well as powerful and penetrating. Wayne is the force toward which the other dynamics of the group gravitate. His sense of direction is unfaltering and the strength of his convictions is uncompromised.

Wayne holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology, as well as MTS in Theology. His mission has been furthered by his work in Criminal Justice while working with adults, juveniles, and community partnerships. Wayne is a Minister of the Gospel, and has served as Minister of Music, Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, and any other positions where service was needed.

Joyce is the sweet voice of the group. She inherited a special anointing and it is befitting that as the eldest daughter she should continue in the path that her mother established. She has been compared to some of the greatest singers in the world but her style is her own.

Joyce is a cum laude graduate and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She accomplished this by driving 160 miles per day while maintaining a household, caring for a family, rearing two active boys, and working untiringly in her church. Additionally, she holds a Master in Education She is also a Pastor's Wife. Those who have heard her have never forgotten her.

Karen is the spice of the group. Her vocal abilities are astounding and all of her emotions and energies are given when she sings a song. She has been compared to many other singers. Karen is a thrill to watch as well as listen to and she will leave you with a good feeling.

Karen has been singing since she was a little girl when she begin singing with her sister Joyce. She started playing the drums for her church at an early age. From there, she went on to play the piano and organ. Karen also sang in her college choir. She sings with the praise and worship team, is a choir director, song leader, and youth worker.

Karen is a wife, mother of two, and loves to write original poetry. She is a saved, spirit filled woman and loves God.

Kenneth is youngest of the Stewart children but is never afraid to take charge of any situation. He takes an active role in church and is a member of Victory Temple COGIC where he serves as a musician, praise leader, Sunday School teacher, and financial officer.

Kenneth is also a public school educator with many years of service. He received a BSE in Elementary Education, MSE in Gifted and Talented, and has certifications as a music teacher, principal, and district level administrator. One word of thought he often refers to; “The greatest gift is to provide service."

Krystal McGill is the daughter of Carl and Karen Stewart –McGill and the inspiration of the group. She is very involved in her church community and is a part of the adult and youth praise team, adult choir, a Sunday School Teacher, and director for the youth praise dancers.

Krystal holds a Bachelor’s degree in education and a Masters with a specialty in Gifted and Talented. She loves God and proclaims Jesus Lord and Savior in her life.

Ariel is the youngest menber of the group and the youngest daughter of Carl and Karen. She has the voice of an angel, and sings in the adult choir. She is working toward a Bachelors Degree in Physical Therapy.
